Climate change and habitat degradation are taking a toll on our shared planet, and it’s easy to feel helpless  in the face of global issues. The work of understanding, managing and conserving Earth requires on the spot research, community outreach and untold hours or real and meaningful action. What why Earthwatch expeditions were created.
For more than 40 years Earthwatch have helped make significant, positive changes around the world. That’s because Earthwatch volunteers and not eco tourists -- they carry, measure, track, seat, record, camp, hike, paddle, observe, snorkel, climb, photograph, measure and at the  end of the day their work makes a difference.
 
With over 50 expeditions in 25 countries we have expeditions in all areas of climate change, ocean health, ecosystems and cultural preservation. As a not for profit all contributions to join an Earthwatch expedition go to where it is most needed -- the science.
 
This June Wildlife Secrets is teaming up with Earthwatch Australia and giving one lucky subscriber the chance to win a place on Wildlife of Australia’s Cloud Forest. Situated in the Wet Tropics of Northern Queensland you will have the opportunity to spend a week working alongside leading scientists as part of a field research team. From bird watching in the morning, to reptiles surveys in the day right through to spotlighting at night you be helping to record as many animals as you find at the varying heights. This information will then be used to assess what changes are occurring due to changing climates and ultimately what impact this will have on certain species for their protection.
 
You will have a rare opportunity to visit truly beautiful rainforests, with those most passionate about the environment, while seeing some amazingly unique and special animals -- a lot that are hard to find without those who know where to find them.

Competition Rules

Competition Licence Number : LTPS-13-03257

•This competition begins 8am 1 June and ends 5pm 30 June 2013.
•The competition is open to all Australian Wildlife Secrets print or digital Subscribers whose subscription is valid as at 30 June 2013.
•For the purposes of allocating the Prize, the definition of Subscriber is the addressee of the subscription as recorded in the Australian Wildlife Secrets database as at the competition close time.
•Where a subscriber is under the age of 18 years or would otherwise be unable to claim the prize personally, they may choose another designated person as an entrant to the draw for the prize.
•The prize is a 7 day "Wildlife of Australia's Cloud Forest" expedition valued at $1,995. (For details, see Earthwatch website http://www.earthwatch.org.au)
•Winner must be able to arrange their own transport to arrive in Cairns to meet the team.
•Winner required to be over the age of 18 and meet and adhere with Earthwatch terms and conditions for tours. •Prize is transferable subject to the transferee meeting all of the Earthwatch terms and conditions.
•Prize is not redeemable for cash or substitution. •Judge's decision is final and no correspondence will
be entered.
•Draw will be performed by a member of Earthwatch at 1pm 1 July 2013 at Earthwatch Institute (Australia), 126 Bank Street, South Melbourne, VIC 3205.
•Winner will be drawn from barrel of entries by a member of Earthwatch.
•Employees and Contractors of Wildlife secrets and Earthwatch are not eligible to enter the Competition. •Winner’s details will be posted on the Wildlife Secrets website, the Earthwatch website and in The Australian 3 August 2013.
