Australia's best kept wildlife secrets

Tassie Devil Pastel Competition

*RESULTS*

Congratulations to Deborah Turnbull from Queensland who won the Tassie Devil pastel from our first issue's readers images competition!

Well, what  a fabulous response to our readers' images competition last issue. Thanks to all the readers who submitted photos.

It was hard choosing the winner, but we shortlisted the entries and asked Katherine Lohse, the artist who painted the main prize, to select the winner.

Given the number of top class entries for our first competition, however, we decided to extend the prizes to give two runners-up prizes! These are two wildlife books donated by CSIRO.

Title: Silvereyes

"I have so many favourites but this one is special because it is not often that a wildlife carer gets both the babies and the nest.
These little fellows grew up to be silvereyes, but we were not 100% sure of their identity at first.  They were successfully released."

CSIRO Books also go to the runners up photos below.

Bernice O'Mahoney, Armidale NSW

"I had just focused and was in the process of depressing the button fully when a galah perched higher up the tree squwarked and startled the falcon. As you can see, he threw up his wings and prepared for flight and I caught it!!! Then he flew off."

 Jodie Breedon, Anna Bay NSW

"My family of Tawny Frogmouths...These guys nested in exactly the same spot year after year on my property at Port Stephens on the NSW coast. They always raised two healthy babies and were such a pleasure to see each year."
